Design package

How our standard, typical, and custom details come together in a design package

Structured documentation for easier execution

RTI design package is based on three levels of drawings to maximize the use of the library of existing and typical solutions

  • Standard details - issued for each project without significant modification. This includes braces, anchorage, fasteners, housekeeping pads, etc.

  • Typical details - typical solutions shown schematically, with tables of project-specific equipment containing tag, weight, dimensions, anchorage and bracing. Typical details include suspended units, tanks, condensing units, transformers, panels, etc.

  • Custom details - most projects contain some components, typically larger, for which a custom detail is required. Examples include generators, fuel tanks, cooling towers, make-up air units. The custom drawings are specific to a unit and are fully dimensioned. A sample custom drawing is provided below.

RTI also includes upfront information to facilitate the execution of the project

  • General notes

  • List of equipment with tag, type, manufacturer, model, weight, and a reference to RTI detail.

  • Key plans of main areas with equipment, typically the first underground storey, main level, and the roof, where most mechanical and electrical installations take place. The key plans are valuable as a record of assumptions on equipment location during design and then during inspections.
