Professional assurance

Professional assurance

The Authorities Having Jurisdiction in British Columbia have mandated that the design of seismic restraint is subject to professional assurance. Forms (“schedules”) have been developed for two purposes:

  • Assurance of design and commitment to field review. This schedule is intended to be issued with the sealed design of seismic restraint.

  • Assurance of field review. This schedule is issued upon successful completion of final inspection of the installed seismic restraint.

EGBC

The professional associations of engineers (EGBC) and architects (AIBC) have developed a guideline for the practice of supporting registered professionals, such as seismic engineers.

The associations also developed schedule forms specifically for supporting professionals. These schedules are required from seismic engineers in most jurisdictions.
